The Moruya Junior Pennant team Steve Mercer, Ivan Mylott, Riley Brown, Lachlan Ingram, Cody Kirkwood & Josh Maloney travelled to Newcastle on Monday 19th January to compete in the state finals of the Jack Newton sponsored Encourage Shield as they had qualified as one of the top four teams in the state.
The weather was miserable with heavy rain in the morning causing a four hour delay. The Moruya team was drawn to play Grafton & when play finally started so did the rain which lasted the best part of another hour.
Although all the boys played well Grafton were just too good on the day winning 5 ½ to ½ This looks like a comprehensive win to Grafton but the matches were much closer, the results don’t tell the full story with two games decided on the 18th hole & 2 others on the 17th.
The team finished 3rd overall the best result of any Moruya Pennant Team.
Friday February 13th will see the70's and 80's Karaoke Party following the raffles at 8pm at Moruya Golf Club. Following the success of the previous Karaoke nights a big crowd is expected. Themed attire is heavily encouraged for what will be a great night out.
